Proudly hailing from South Seattle, she is the daughter of Cambodian refugees. Julie identifies as a first-generation, low-income college graduate with a bachelor\u2019s degree in American Ethnic Studies with a minor in education from the University of Washington. Additionally, she earned a Master\u2019s degree in Higher Education from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Julie is a three-time TRIO alumna, participating in the University of Washington\u2019s Upward Bound, Student Support Services, and the Ronald E. McNair programs.
