It also imposes a 1 percent limit on spending increases for most non-defense discretionary programs in FY2025. The House and Senate Appropriation Committees must fund bills for FY2024 funding based on these spending limits.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While we have yet to determine the exact impact of this agreement on TRIO funding, it seems clear that <strong>Congress <\/strong>would have to cut another program for TRIO or any other non-discretionary program to receive an increase in Fiscal Year 2024. Despite this challenge, the TRIO community still seeks a $107 million funding increase for FY2024 for a total appropriation of $1.3 billion\u2014the same amount proposed in the Biden Administration\u2019s Budget Proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n<section id=\"block-1328d9ed2155df4dec4ad38133db004a\" class=\"cta-pullout-wrapper cta-pullout alignfull coe-block\">\r\n\t<div class=\"container\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"cta-pullout-inner wow animate fade-in-stagger\">\r\n\t\t\t<div class=\"cta-text\">To achieve this goal, our community must aggressively reach out to legislators and explain the need for increased funding to support our students and programs. <\/div>\r\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/coenet.org\/congressional-recess-packet\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"acf-link button cta-pullout-button\" >GET FREE ADVOCACY TOOLS<\/a>\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\r\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve this goal, our community must aggressively reach out to legislators and explain the need for increased funding to support our students and programs. It is critical that all TRIO supporters&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/coenet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Help-Turn-Your-Member-of-Congress-Into-a-TRIO-Champion_021423.pdf\">invite their Members of Congress to visit their students and programs this summer and throughout the year<\/a>. The House and Senate will be in recess from <strong>June 26 <\/strong>through <strong>July 9 <\/strong>and the entire month of <strong>August<\/strong>.
